Markdown to HTML converter

Paste Markdown on the left and get clean HTML on the right: semantic tags with no inline styles, ready to drop into a page or a CMS. Download it as a complete .html file that opens in any browser, or switch to the WeChat mode to copy a styled version that keeps its formatting when pasted into the WeChat official account editor, Word or Google Docs.

HTML code

Everything is converted in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter here is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Paste Markdown on the left, or load the example. The HTML updates as you type.
  2. Copy the HTML fragment, or download a complete .html page with a light reading style.
  3. For WeChat, switch to the WeChat mode, pick an accent colour and a text size (16px by default), then use Copy as rich text and paste into the article editor.

What the converter does

Markdown flavour

Parsing is done by the open-source marked library, following CommonMark plus the GitHub Flavored Markdown extensions: tables with column alignment, strikethrough, task lists and bare URLs turned into links. Fenced code blocks keep their language as a language-xxx class, which is what syntax highlighters such as Prism and highlight.js look for.

Safe output

Raw HTML inside the Markdown is shown as text rather than passed through, and links using javascript: or other non-web schemes lose their address. That means pasting a document from an unknown source cannot run a script in the page or smuggle one into your output. If you need custom tags, add them to the generated HTML by hand.

The WeChat mode

The WeChat editor has nowhere to put a stylesheet, so this mode writes every style into each element's own style attribute and copies the result as rich text. Code block indentation is kept by turning spaces into non-breaking spaces and tabs into 4 spaces. According to Tencent's help centre, only service accounts with WeChat Pay enabled can link to outside websites in an article, while every account can link to published WeChat articles, so external links become numbered references listed at the end, and mp.weixin.qq.com links stay clickable.

Example

This Markdown:

## Summary

See the [docs](https://example.com/docs).

becomes:

<h2>Summary</h2>
<p>See the <a href="https://example.com/docs">docs</a>.</p>

Limits

  • No syntax highlighting is added; code blocks carry a language class for your own highlighter.
  • Maths and footnote syntax ([^1]) are not supported and appear as plain text.
  • Images must use web addresses. Local file paths will not display in a browser.
  • Heading ids are not generated, so the output has no automatic table of contents.

Frequently asked questions

Does the HTML include CSS?

The fragment does not: it is plain semantic HTML that inherits your site's styles. The downloadable .html file adds a short reading stylesheet so it looks tidy on its own.

Can I paste the result into Word or Google Docs?

Yes. Switch to the WeChat mode and use Copy as rich text; headings, bold text, lists and tables keep their formatting when pasted.

Why is my inline HTML shown as text?

For safety the converter does not pass raw HTML through. Add custom tags to the generated code yourself.

Is my document uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing you type is stored.
